Throughout the course of her life, Marie-Chantal has wanted to be many things: an artist, a designer, a mother, an entrepreneur. With her children’s clothing line, she found a perfect way to blend all these things into a creative and rewarding career.

Born in London, Marie-Chantal was one of three sisters, and spent her early years in Hong Kong. At the age of nine, she went off to Le Rosey, a Swiss boarding school, followed by Ecole Active Bilingue in Paris. But no matter where she was, she always found a great passion and aptitude for art and design. This led her to New York City, where she studied both of these fields, first at New York Academy of Arts, and then New York University, where she developed a true and impressive eye for color and design.

While in New Orleans, Marie-Chantal met Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece. They were married in 1995 in the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sophia in London. She became Marie-Chantal, Crown Princess Pavlos of Greece. One year later they announced that they were expecting their first child. In 1996 Maria-Olympia was born in New York, followed by Constantine Alexios (1998), Achileas-Andreas (2000), and Odysseas Kimon (2004).

Starting her namesake children’s collection in the year 2000 sprang naturally from her love of classic, timeless design, and her fundamental love of children. Her memories of her own childhood—and her mother’s influence on her—are vivid. “My mother always brought us up to look our best. We were dressed in very specific outfits, like Liberty-print smocked dresses made of lightweight lawn cotton.” Marie-Chantal’s favorite time of year was the summer, mostly because she and her sisters could wear free, happy, and comfortable outfits, the very elements she wants to bring to today’s generation of children’s clothing. “The beauty and innocence of childhood are so important,” she says, “And I think children should look like children.” That desire, and her mother’s fashionable approach to her and her sisters as children, were the inspiration for Marie-Chantal LLC, which launched its debut line in spring of 2001.

Marie-Chantal divides her time between London, New York, Paris, and Greece, and also enjoys traveling to major cities all over the world, collecting inspiration for her ever-expanding line of children’s clothing and accessories. Although frequently on the road, she and Prince Pavlos permanently reside in London, England, with their four children.
