Marie-Chantal's Christmas Traditions

20th December 2022

Christmas and the month of December are my very favorite time of the year. This year we will be spending the holidays in England, cozy in the country – I am so looking forward to all being together. However, December in New York is magical – from the beautiful ice rink in Central Park or Rockefeller Plaza to a performance of the Nutcracker and the Christmas show performed by the Rockettes at Radio City Hall. As with any city, it’s also the festive lights which makes it so special, but I have to say that London does it best with Winter Wonderland and all the festive decorations.

I love the holiday season; it is my favorite time of the year – a time to be cozy at home with all my family. The festivities always kick off the day after Thanksgiving. It’s a rule when we can start playing Christmas music (Click here to listen to my Spotify Christmas playlist), winter scented candles will be lit around the house and the decorations and Christmas cheer start soon after. I always decorate the kitchen with Advent calendars, peppermint sticks, and gingerbread snaps kept in jars with decorations all around.

I love to be reunited with all my favourite decorations and ornaments – I’ve been collecting a few over the years and as a family, the annual tradition of dressing the tree is one that everyone still looks forward to. I’ll start off with a big Christmas tree decorated with large pinecones and fairy lights. Our tree always goes up the first week of December – and slowly as the family gets together, we finish the decorations – it is a lovely way to celebrate family and Christmas.

I also love wreaths - sprigs of pine, more pinecones, and cinnamon sticks, as well as winterberries, oranges, and holly. There’s nothing better than that smell of Christmas.

Christmas day is a time to be cozy at home. We will all be dressed in my new match your mini collection of pyjamas and robes – as I like to say, Life’s Better Cozy, especially on Christmas morning.

I love gift giving and buying gifts for friends and the little ones in our family – some of my favourite pieces this year are our Liberty Print Gift Set, perfect for any little girl. Our Holiday prints: Christmas Dogs and Skating Elves are perfect for kids to wake up in on Christmas morning. You can’t go wrong with a pair of our cozy pyjamas and Angel Wing fleece robes. And of course, our signature Angel Wing sleepsuits in festive colors like burgundy and navy velour.
