Marie-Chantal's Morning Routine

24th June 2021

My morning routine is a simple one, as I’ve kept it the same for years. My skincare begins with washing my face with Youth to the People’s Superfood Cleanser and a spritz of Adaptogen Sooth + Hydrate Activated Mist. I alternate moisturizing my skin between Noni Glow Face Oil or All Bright C Serum. When my skin really needs it, I apply a face mask, my new go to has been the Sio Chest and Neck Masks. Every few months I rotate my products out for new ones I discover, but always return back to the ones that are tried and true. It’s important to mix things up every once in a while, as the body has a funny way of getting used to routines. I’ll do the same for my hair, especially in the winter months and also with exercise… believe it or not, for my diet as well.

I am a huge fan of my Peloton Bike and like to make time for a few classes every week. I also started doing Pilates a few years back and will alternate between a couple of sessions one week and my Peloton for the other. Every now and again, I like to throw in barre work, as I find it great for toning the legs and core. If my schedule allows, I love to walk through Central Park whenever I can and sometimes, but rarely I’ll go for a run.

I normally wake up around 6:00 am, as I’ve always been an early bird and love to wake up with the sun. I really enjoy having breakfast with my kids when they’re home or just before they head off to school.

I’ve gotten in the habit of having a hot cup of water with lemon juice. My daughter, Olympia, recently bought me a motivational water bottle, to make sure I’m drinking enough water. I also love coffee, but with no dairy. Instead, I prefer almond milk.

My star sign is Virgo, so if you know about star signs, Virgo’s tend to love all things health, food and organization related. The diet I am most comfortable with is the F-Factor Diet. The F-Factor Diet focuses on combining lean proteins with high fiber carbohydrates at every meal, which are low in calories and keep you feeling full throughout the day. By eating more fiber you’ll lose wight safely, steadily and naturally, while also improving your own health and overall well-being. This is not a diet that will ask you to ban carbs, proteins, fats or even alcohol. You can indulge your sweet tooth and maintain your normal lifestyle, which is why it works for me.

Another new discovery of mine is GG Crackers, a Scandinavian Fiber Crispbread kind of like cracker. Using bran, rye flour, a hint of salt and water from the springs of Norway, these are slow baked to create a fiber filled snack. They are delicious topped with avocado and smoked salmon or almond butter, bananas and a drizzle of honey.

I really believe that you have to find what works for you and try to make it fun and healthy. Listen to your body as it will tell you how it feels and what you need. From your skin to your hair and body, find a routine that works for you. I was able to figure out quite early that sugars and too many carbs make me feel puffy, sluggish and not great. However, that doesn’t mean that I won’t help myself to a yummy bowl of pasta or pizza every now and again.
