Knowing the Human Design of my kids unveiled the gifts and challenges that each of them brings to life. It turns out that the three of them each have a different energy type. My eldest daughter, Morgan, does not like being told what to do - but who does? She came out of the womb with a sense of independence and moves to a rhythm of her own. True to her Manifestor qualities, even when excited, Morgan is so peaceful. My son, Logan, is full of energy. As a Generator, he quickly moves about the playground and then goes to build Lego until he is satisfied with his achievements or gets frustrated if something doesn’t work. My youngest daughter, Taryn, is a Projector. She quietly observes all of this and loves being invited to join in, especially when she's complimented for her role in the fun. As a Manifesting Generator, it’s useful to know how to pace myself alongside them. We now understand that as a Projector, Taryn needs much more rest and as a Manifestor, Morgan initiates projects or ideas that I’ll likely finish. Logan operates most similarly to my husband and me, so we cue into what lights him up.

Knowing the signposts of when they are in alignment or not has been a game changer in mitigating blow-ups and meltdowns. If we notice anger flare up in Morgan, we try breathwork to let it move through and avoid asking questions, which can be triggering to a Manifestor. Logan’s frustration may be the cause of doing something that drains him because he’s not meant for it. For Taryn, we focus on inviting her to share her view and recognize her brilliance.

All three children have emotional authority, meaning that they need time to process their wave of emotions to make a decision. My husband and I are the opposite, we make decisions from our gut (sacral). Learning this was hugely helpful in giving them the time they need to process. We try to lean into our gut to live according to our design chart and lead by example, which is part of my profile. The profiles are wildly supportive in identifying the way each child learns best, like learning by doing versus researching or observing. It’s fascinating to know which of their energy centers are defined (colored in) and which are open. This anchors and supports all of us around holding our energetic boundaries with clarity on how we might be impacted by or impacting each other.

Human Design even covers the ideal environment, digestion, life purpose, and much more about one’s true nature. So, why don’t all parents know their child’s human design? It’s a brilliant way to know their uniquely beautiful soul with instructions on how to embrace their specific needs.

They get the vision started and move on to the next thing based on urges that impact people. Manifestors tend to be more closed off to protect their energy. Their strategy is to inform and then initiate. When aligned, they feel a sense of peace. Their sign of misalignment is anger.

GENERATOR: (37% of the population) – Creates good energy in response to the world's needs. Their seemingly endless energy is perfect for making real change. They become masters of what they respond to do and create, in line with their life path. Generators have open and enveloping energy. Their strategy is to respond from their gut or inner authority. When aligned, they feel a sense of satisfaction. Their sign of misalignment is frustration.

MANIFESTING GENERATOR: (33% of the population) – Multi-passionate people here to chart an unseen path and are quick to master new things. They bring energy into the world like Generators, and like Manifestors, have internal non-verbal creative flow and take action.

Their strategy is to respond from their gut or inner authority, inform, then take action. When aligned, they feel a sense of satisfaction or peace. Their sign of misalignment is frustration or anger.

PROJECTOR: (20% of the population) – Observant to sense the necessary information and resources others need. They lead, guide, and bring a fresh perspective to those who see, recognize, value and invite them. Projectors work efficiently to avoid losing and leaking their focused and absorbing energy. Their strategy is to be recognized and invited. When aligned, they feel their success or misalignment presents as bitterness.

REFLECTOR: (1% of the population) – Wise, intuitive, empathic and sensitive lunar beings. They are fully open to the world and to others. Reflectors magnify and reflect all that is around them and mirror back with fully open energy. Their strategy is to process a Lunar cycle. Alignment presents as a sense of surprise or misalignment may feel like disappointment.

Knowing how someone uses and revitalizes their energy allows us to think differently about our relationship with them. We can consider tapping into those who are Generators and Manifesting Generators when they are lit up and able to share their life-force energy. Projectors need a lot more rest because their energy outpours within 2 to 3 hours of output while the rest of the day they might be observing the gifts in others to help them transform.
